Frequently Asked Questions
Is this legit?+
GymClaim is a consumer filing assistant — like TurboTax for gym reimbursements. We help you prepare and submit claims that you are already entitled to under your health plan. We never act on behalf of your insurer or employer.
Does my plan cover this?+
The four major carriers, UnitedHealthcare/Oxford, Aetna, Cigna, and Blue Cross Blue Shield, offer gym reimbursement programs worth roughly $150 to $400 per year on many fully insured plans, and NYC Management Benefits Fund members can claim up to $1,000 per year. If your employer funds its own health plan, your benefit is set by the employer and cannot be read from your insurance card, so GymClaim helps you ask HR the right questions instead.
How much does GymClaim cost?+
It is free to check your benefit and track your workouts. We charge 7% of your reimbursement with a $7.99 minimum, and only when you actually submit a claim. On a $200 Oxford reimbursement that is $14.00, and you keep $186.00. No subscriptions, no hidden fees.
How much am I leaving on the table?+
That depends on your plan. Programs range from $150 to $400 per year at the major carriers, and up to $1,000 per year for NYC Management Benefits Fund members. In our survey, 90.2% of people who had never claimed believed they had left more than $0 unclaimed. Check your plan above to see your number.
Do you see my health data?+
We process only what your claim requires: your insurance card details, gym visit dates, and membership payment proof. We never access medical records, diagnoses, or health conditions, and you can delete everything at any time.
What if my claim gets denied?+
We help you understand why and resubmit with corrected information when possible. Most denials happen because of missing visit logs or expired deadlines — both things GymClaim helps you avoid in the first place.
Can my family use GymClaim too?+
Yes. You add a dependent profile inside your own account for a spouse, domestic partner, or dependent age 13 or older. Programs like Oxford Sweat Equity cover dependents up to $100 per six-month period; the dependent completes their own qualifying visits, and GymClaim tracks them against their own threshold.
Why I Built This
“I had no idea my insurance would reimburse $400 a year. When I finally figured out the paperwork, it took me two hours and a phone call.”
I thought: nobody should have to do this. So I built GymClaim.
